Both My Family and I have taken on a new chapter in our lives … running a bed and breakfast. I have been in the hospitality business for over 30 years and my wife is quickly approaching 20 years. So what have we choosing to do in our spare time? Run an historic inn / bed & breakfast. For some that may be too much of a good thing but we love our jobs and we love people, so for us it just the next step. We have named our new historic inn, Huffman House. Staying at a bed and breakfast like Huffman House can be quite different for staying in a hotel. In most bed and breakfasts you have direct contact with the owner. Most owners are driven to make sure you have a great stay in part because you’re paying them and in part because they take pride in their home as well as their city. Most bed and breakfast owners (at least the ones I’ve met) are out going, enjoy entertaining and have a wealth of knowledge about their community. I encourage you to slow down take the time to uncover the hidden treasures by have a talk with your next innkeeper. Yes, bed & breakfasts can be quite different but different can be a good thing.
